A Short Tour of Cambridge...

Over the festive period, Ben and I were near Cambridge so decided to have a very short but sweet wander around. I happened to have my DSLR on me so took a few snaps...

Although we didn't get to spend as much time in the city as we'd have liked, we still got to feel the city's beautiful charm. I'm looking forward to when we get the chance to go again and discover more of what this wonderful place has to offer.

Cupcake and Macaron Tour...

Everyone who knows me, knows I love cake. It's a bit of an ongoing thing that whenever there's a dessert on offer, I'll always make room for it. With this in mind, Ben's parents got me a very apt Christmas present... a Cupcake & Macaron Tour in London!

We met our guide along with two other ladies who were booked onto the tour outside Marks & Spencer in Covent Garden. We then spent roughly 2 hours being led around London gorging ourselves on tasters from each of the 5 bakeries we visited. Our guide George filled the time with interesting anecdotes about the areas of London we were in as well as facts about cupcakes and macarons.

During the tour, we visited Laduree, Hummingbird Bakery, Yauatcha, Patisserie Valerie, and Fortnum & Mason's. My favourite cupcake was the red velvet from Hummingbird Bakery and the salted carmel macaron from Asian restaurant Yauatcha was delicious. I didn't manage to eat everything on the way round so the doggy bags came in very handy! This is a great tour for anyone with a sweet tooth but also if you're looking for something slightly different to do in London.

The Breakfast Post | #9...

A new year, a new Breakfast Post! This time round, Ben and I took two of our friends along with us so be prepared for double the number of photos. We decided to head to Caravan by Kings Cross as I'd read some good things about it and the menu looked different to any breakfast place we'd been to before. We knew from the website that they don't take bookings for Brunch at the weekends but decided to take a leisurely journey up there as we were happy to wait. When we made it there at around 11/11.30 the wait was 45mins so be ready to have a drink at the bar before eating - it's definitely worth the wait! After spending an eternity looking at the menu, I went for baked eggs, tomato pepper ragout, greek yoghurt, toast and sausage whilst Ben went for Kimchi pancake, pork belly and fried duck egg with bbq crème fraiche. Our two friends decided on the Caravan fry and the prawn and chorizo omelette with almonds and a chipotle lime mayo.

Caravan is a great place if you're bored of the traditional breakfast menu - reading the descriptions of the dishes can seem a bit mind-boggling at first but all the breakfasts looked incredible and the four of us all loved our meals (even if we weren't sure what all the ingredients in them were!). The staff were great too, really friendly and very attentive, especially when we were having a drink waiting for our table. If you give Caravan a visit, I'd definitely recommend the salted caramel hot chocolate!
